Summer bucket list update

Since we’re officially back to work today, here’s a little update of the things that got done around here this summer.  It was very productive but it turned out a little differently than my summer bucket list had in mind.  Let’s take a look back… >>Switch the guest room, clean out the office and start on the nursery. We got the majority of this done in one weekend thanks to my mom and sister spending an entire Saturday refinishing furniture.  And then when the guys came home from playing golf, they moved everything around for us… more than once. >>Catch… Read More

Weekending | the lake edition

After last weekend’s girls trip, this one was spent on the lake and with friends.  I just love weekends… all kinds.  The traveling kind.  The lazy kind.  The productive kind.  The fun kind.  It’s so rejuvenating for the week ahead. Thursday morning I had a doctor’s appointment to check up on Baby Girl.  This chick loves her some Chic-fil-A so I couldn’t deny her a biscuit.  I mean, she’s working so hard to grow right now.  And yes, I know Thursdays aren’t really weekends, except when you’re a teacher – then anything can count as the weekend. Friday afternoon… Read More

Sisterhood of the world bloggers award

Kelly at Familiar Joy was the first real blog reader.  And by that I mean, she and I didn’t know each other so she wasn’t doing it out of obligation.  She started her blog right around the same time I did and I can’t even remember how she found me but I remember telling David that someone commented on my blog… and it was someone I didn’t know!  She’s always been one of my favorite bloggers because she’s one of those women who seriously has it all together.  She has four adorable kids and she’s a teacher.  But beyond that,… Read More

Bump style pinspiration

I’ve relied on Pinterest to help me sport this growing baby bump.  Here are a few styles I’m crushing on. – The knotted look – This is one look I haven’t tried yet.  I think it’s a great way to be able to wear what’s still in your closet but highlight the way your body has changed.  Now I just need to go see if I have anything in my closet that will work for this look! – Layers + stripes – I was ecstatic when I realized I could still wear stripes throughout pregnancy.  Stripes are my go-to, especially… Read More

Weekending | Girls trip edition

This weekend was spent with my sisters, mom, both grandmothers and aunt in Townsend, TN.  It was one of the most relaxing weekends I’ve had all summer.  And there was no shortage of laughs, that’s for sure. Kenzie and mom picked me up and we laughed at mom’s comments for the whole road trip. Once we got there, Friday night was low-key.  Saturday, we went to a few shops and the local winery.  {Yes, the struggle was real for the pregnant girl.} We came back to the cabin and did a little neighborhood exploring of the swinging bridge. Saturday night… Read More

Friday means favorites

Blog post | Chelsea’s comments on chasing our dreams vs. being satisfied where we are. #powerful Addition to Baby Girl’s room | this pillow The color isn’t even close to what it looks like in real life.  But how perfect is this sentiment for when she’s awake at 2 am?  And 4.  {I may or may not be jinxing myself.} Weeknight dinners | It just doesn’t get any better than these 5. 11 struggles all too real for the pregnant girl…

>>the wine glass emoji is no longer on your frequently used screen >>your denim shorts are just as comfy as your Nike running shorts #thankyouelasticwaistband >>you wonder why all shorts/pants aren’t made like that… even for non-pregnant people >>you wonder if people can tell you’re pregnant or just think you’ve been eating 17 donuts for breakfast every day >>mmmm, donuts sound good… Krispy Kreme isn’t that far away, right? >>if you have any tan at all, it’s only on the front half of your body… because how is it possible to lay on your stomach anymore? >>you go from kinda hungry… Read More

Summer staples

I live in some version of this look all summer long.  Shorts, tee, sneakers, top-knotted hair + sunnies.  It’s just too easy. Yesterday I opened my drawer of shirts and discovered that two more shirts no longer fit.  I’ve been trying to wear the regular tops as long as I can but when the elastic band of the shorts shows at the bottom of the tee, well… that’s probably not a good look.  Time to pull out the maternity tops because they’re much longer and accommodate for this growing belly! Good thing Megan and I popped into Target on Saturday and… Read More

White + white

It’s no secret that my clothes are a bit on the limited side at the moment.  I have a few dresses, three pair of shorts and maybe 6 shirts that fit.  So most days it’s a shorts and tee or tank combination. On our five year anniversary, I was searching for something I hadn’t worn yet.  Enter the white + white look.  New combo = score!  Remember when I did this solid white look way back when I first started blogging?         All this white is making me wish for a glass of white wine. >>Linkups<< |… Read More
