How to style a cozy sweater

When I came across this sweater from the Pumps & Pushups Boutique, I knew it had to make its way into my closet!  I’m a huge fan of neutrals but I also love how it has specks of color woven in and it’s even more gorgeous in person.  Oversize sweaters are so cozy and pair perfectly with skinny pants and boots.  Unfortunately, the winter in North Carolina has been so mild until a few weeks ago that I’m just now getting to wear it.  Because I had to wait a couple of months, I now sport it every chance I get.  It’s… Read More

Letters to Ariana | Two Months

January 15, 2016 Ari, Hi sweet girl!  This morning I rolled over and told your daddy that you were two months old today and he couldn’t believe it!  “What?”  He kissed you twice before he left and his favorite nickname for you is Beautiful.  It just melts my heart the way you two adore each other. It’s so amazing to me that you’ve only been here two months and yet you’ve changed so much in that short amount of time.  Your cries are now noticeably different and my favorite thing is when you get what you wanted but you let… Read More

Plaid + accessories

Last week I picked out a few plaid favorites and mentioned some tips for keeping your look chic.  I’m loving the way this timeless print has become the winter’s hottest trend.  I love styling mine with boots and leggings or jeggings and a few fun accessories.  The cross-body bag with the gold chain basically counts as jewelry too, right? Better late than never | Christmas recap

A few years ago, we decided to jump on the every other year plan for Christmas celebrations.  At first, I wasn’t a fan but now I’ve come to enjoy the fact that we get to  focus on the family we’re with.  This was our year in Winston with the Pierces for Christmas but we were able to go to Chapel Hill to spend a few days with Ariana’s cousins. While the big kids were opening presents, my girl was hanging out like this. While we were there, we also managed to squeeze in a Carolina basketball game.  I had planned to feed… Read More

Mad for plaid | how to keep your look chic

Plaid is everywhere this season and it’s the perfect winter look.  Not only does flannel keep you warm but it’s super trendy right now, too!  No longer does plaid get the bad rap of working only for rugged, mountain men.  Here are a few ways to keep your look chic when you rock one of the season’s hottest trends. >>Pair it with fun accessories.  A big necklace, brightly colored sunnies, a great bag or some fun shoes are all great ways to add another element of interest to a plaid statement piece. >>Have leggings, will wear.  Plaid tops are often loose and… Read More

Crockpot white chicken chili recipe

Yesterday, David went back to work after spoiling Ariana and I for two straight weeks.  Since he had to stay late for a meeting, we volunteered to bring dinner to his office.  I was asked for the recipe, so I thought you might like to try it too!  It’s quick, simple and delicious. >> << White Chicken Chili Time prep time: 10 minutes total: 6 hours, 10 minutes Ingredients 2-3 chicken breasts (frozen is fine) 1 block cream cheese 1 can great northern beans 1 can black beans, rinsed and drained 1 can Rotel tomatoes (I’ve used both mild and hot)… Read More

Better late than never | 2015 // A year in review

Last year I recapped 2014 and it’s one of my favorite posts to look back on!  Here’s a few of our favorite moments from 2015! {January} We rang in the new year with some of our favorite people and Megan brought rock candy for our festive midnight toast. I was excited to share my faux fur vest look and I wrote about 28 things you should do in honor of my 28th birthday. My sisters came for a weekend visit and were featured in a fashion post. And we went to Blowing Rock with the Robinsons and Palozzis.  Literally one of the… Read More

Letters to Ariana | One Month

December 15, 2015 Ariana, Happy one month, Precious!  I can hardly believe it’s already been an entire month that you’ve been with us because time has zoomed by so quickly.  But at the same time, it feels like we were always meant to be a family of three and you’re the perfect fit.    You’ve been so patient with our learning curves and your personality has started to show even more in the last couple days.  When Daddy lays you on his chest, we love to watch how you squirm until you’re positioned exactly where you want.  Usually, your head… Read More

How to decorate for Christmas with a newborn

…In 20 easy steps 😉 I remember looking at the calendar pretty early on in my pregnancy and deciding that I would decorate the house for Christmas the day before my due date… that way, whenever the baby decided to come, I’d be ready to sit at home and enjoy the Christmas lights. Ha.  What is that saying about God laughing at our plans?  {And in case you’re not familiar with Davidisms, GYMR is an acronym for get your mind right.} Getting the decorations up this year took slightly more effort than in previous years.  Here’s how to decorate your… Read More
