High five for Friday

Friday is here which means the weekend is just around the corner!  We’re planning on having dinner with some of our best friends and then hoping to also have a chill movie night.  Ah, weekends are glorious aren’t they? This one has already been mentioned, but it’s worth mentioning again.  I was so frustrated with my Silhouette not working because I was so determined to make fall subway art.  And when I get something in my head and it doesn’t play out, I get really impatient.  Who better to call than Mom?  We seriously spent 4-6 hours working on it… Read More

Two ways to wear distressed denim

Distressed denim is the perfect versatile piece.  I’m a fan of dressed-up denim… but dressed-up distressed denim?  Mmm… love it!  I love pairing it with a fancy blouse, some heels and jewelry for a night out.  But it’s also perfect with a tee and knotted hair. October goals

Check out my September goals here. Even after only one month of this monthly list, I have to tell you… I LOVE IT.  Even those of you who are not bloggers, you should totally do this.  It’s so motivating. Here’s a quick recap of how I did on my September goals. 1.  Devotions… check!  This one has been a game-changer.  Reading the bible and devotional books with David every morning before work has put us both in such a good place mentally and emotionally. 2.  New recipe… Yep!  Check out yesterday’s post.  Southwest chicken bake is delicious and it left… Read More

This + that

This One of my goals for September was to make a new recipe.  And I already knew what recipe I was going to make because Sarah had made it and David and I both loved it!  Then last week I finally got around to making it so I looked to see what ingredients I needed to pickup and the store.  Boom… I already had everything.  My kinda recipe, right there! Here are a couple of Claire-notes: – I used store bought salsa… because that’s how I roll – Maybe next time I’ll make my own – Even if I… Read More

The busy girl’s guide to saving money

I’m all about easy ways to save money.  Nothing fancy, complicated or time-consuming here.  Well, not too complicated or time-consuming. 1. I hit up Sam’s Club for nonperishables and meat.  We were at the beach over the summer and didn’t have a Sam’s and I had forgotten how much I actually save on things like ground beef.  I can get a pound of 90/10 ground beef for under four dollars.  At a regular grocery store I think it’s around $6.  I always buy the meat in four to five pound increments, divide it into one-pounders and freeze it in ziplock… Read More

High five for Friday

This week has slowed down a little bit… which is key because last week was the type of week where I felt like I couldn’t get it all done.  {You ever have weeks like that?}  No matter what I was doing, I was behind.  Remember our trip to the winery over the weekend?  That was one of my top moments from the week but I won’t throw that one in again… wouldn’t want to make you jealous 😉 These are my favorites from this week. The Baptist Children’s Home was at our church service on Sunday.  They brought 10-12 teenage… Read More

My fall wishlist

These are things I’m craving this fall. 1. {Leopard print flats} Wear them with slacks, jeans or skirts.  They’re the perfect addition to a basic outfit because the instantly add interest. 2. {Chunky scarf} I love how a scarf can instantly take an outfit from boring to fab.  Plus, this one’s warm! 3. {Blue boyfriend cardigan} The key word here is boyfriend.  I love a loose-fitting cardigan.  I’d take this one in about 13 colors but as a basketball coach, I kept finding myself reaching for a blue one {we’re the blue devils} but never had one last year.  {Sorry, no… Read More

5 things you may {or may not} know about David

The best guy ever.  Wanna know a little about him?  I could tell you he’s an EC teacher turned assistant principal and he’s in grad school… and those would be the basics.  But that wouldn’t be who he is. 1. He gives pizza to strangers.  A few weeks ago, David left to pick up a pizza for dinner.  He had talked me into Domino’s… which isn’t my favorite.  I mean, Little Caesar’s is closer and has crazy bread.  But I was just thankful to not have to make dinner so Domino’s it was.  He walked back in the door with Little Caesar’s.… Read More

Two ways to wear black jeggings

Kaitlyn asked me to feature two ways to wear black leggings.  And to those of you who read this blog and see me on a regular basis, I have to apologize.  Because I already know that both of these outfits will be lived in this fall and winter.  If you get tired of them… my bad.  But they’re both so comfortable and practical.   I envision the blouse and booties for a date or dinner out with friends.  The tshirt and sneakers outfit is comfy and perfect for running errands or hanging out on a Saturday.  These will seriously be… Read More

Festa Italiana

Saturday was one of those perfect days. We packed up, with a few of our best friends, and spent the day at an Italian festival at a local winery.  Katrina and Angelo had been to this festival at Raffaldini Vineyards before and the rest of us are so glad we got to tag along this year!  It was less than an hour from home so it was the perfect day trip.   Our $15 ticket included a wine tasting, so that was our first stop. From there, we found a spot on the lawn and ate lunch.  Well, after we… Read More
