Two ways to wear: scarf edition

This week’s two ways to wear comes with a bit of a twist.  One of my students/basketball players told me the other day… “Hoots, you always wear a scarf.”  Yes.  Yes, I do. And I’m always looking for new ways to wear them.  {Ways that look nothing like Megan’s 5k idea.} More on that later. Back to my outfit and two actual ways to wear a scarf.  Because I wouldn’t let Megan out of the house in her getup.  I told her she looked like the taliban and they might thing she was trying to bomb our local 5k. If… Read More

Our {love} story: the rehearsal dinner

July 23, 2010 It will go down in history of one of my favorite days of all time. I’ll start from the beginning and then let pictures tell the story. {Feeling lost already?  You can catch up here!} Friday morning Several of my bridesmaids, my aunts, grandmothers and mom went to the reception location to decorate and setup.  {I had my to-do lists with me, of course.}  I can remember being excited and anxious at the same time.  Excited because I had been dreaming about this day for seven months.  And now it was only one day away.  Anxious because… Read More

Black is the new black

Black on black is so… sophisticated, glamorous, versatile, Kardashian-esque.   I know you’re soooo surprised to see my black ankle boots again.  I can’t help it.  I’m in love with them. And I’ve started watching Hallmark Christmas movies.  {It’s not too early, is it?}  One character inspired me to do the part in the middle thing.  I’ve contemplated it before but never taken the leap.  But yesterday I just… bam, decided that was the day to go for it.  I really liked how it gave my hair a different look and took all of 3.4 seconds.  That’s my kinda change-up.… Read More

Friday favs

I’m keeping this short and sweet today because everyday this week has felt like it should be  Friday.  And it’s finally here! We have this Supper Club tradition going.  {Have I told y’all about that?}  So Saturday was our turn to host.  I made chili, David made cornbread.  The boys watched football.  {Ok I watched some too because it was UT}.  We just spent some time together.  It was glorious. #butweforgotthepicture #ugh #storyofmylife  Sunday funday!  We’re the most boring people ever on Sundays.  But not this week!  My little brother is playing college basketball and we got to see… Read More

The first thankful Thursday

  >> I’m thankful for our little Coppy.  When we got him, one of my “rules” was not to become those puppy parents that think their dog is their kid.  But we sure do love him!  He makes us laugh all the time. But that one time… he kinda broke my heart.  He always gets a little sad when we’re packing up and he knows we’re leaving.  But this specific time, he jumped in the driver’s seat.  “You’re not leaving without physically moving me.”  Poor guy. >>We left anyway because we were headed to the beach with Katrina and Angelo.… Read More

Our story: the engaged life

If you’ve missed any of the pieces of our story, no worries.  You can catch up on part one, part two, part three and part four. Engaged life was really fun for us but also very busy.  Let me recap: David was living and working in Chapel Hill; I was living in Hickory and working a few minutes down the road in Maiden.  We were 2+ hours apart and David often worked on the weekends. Early December 2009, David got a job in Hickory and moved back to the area where he grew up. I was coaching high school basketball… Read More

Two ways {plus a few} to be bootie-licious

Is my body too bootylicious for ya, babe? {I know, it’s stuck in your head now.  Sorry.  Or your welcome.  Depending on which way you look at it.}  As much as I love some throwback music and  Destiny’s Child… I’m not talking about that kind of bootylicious.  I had my mind more on these… If this doesn’t convince you to rock some ankle boots… what will?  You can wear them with pants, dresses, skirts, shorts… oh my gosh, the list is endless. Like the idea of wearing something more than one way?  Check out more two ways to wear. And… Read More

November goals

First of all, how is it November already?  In case you missed it, I posted on Saturday about the Liebster award, a blogging consultation and thankful Thursdays. Second… take a look back at my October goals.  Here’s a recap… 1.  We are in the routine of doing devotions together every morning.  I wish we had started this so much sooner.  This month, we spent most of our mornings reading a few pages from Power in Praise.  One chapter was kinda weird but the rest of it was on point.  It was such good reminder to be thankful for everything…… Read More

{Saturday surprise} Three in one

{one | an award} Kelly at Familiar Joy nominated me for an award that I didn’t even know existed.  Cool, right?  {Thanks girl!}  Kelly has four adorable kids and she posts lots of great family and fashion ideas.  She started blogging a couple of weeks before I did  and found me through a comment I left on Shay’s blog.  She’s also a teacher and coach’s wife.  {No idea how she does it all!}  She was the first follower {at least that I knew of} that wasn’t a friend or family member.  {So, she made me feel like a real blogger.}  And… Read More

Oh heyyyy, Friday

Here’s a few things that made me smile this week. Chipotle for dinner Friday night.  My love for chipotle might be a little too intense. #canihavechipotleonceaweek I’ve always been a sports fan.  Thanks to my dad and brother, basketball, football and baseball kinda dominated the TV at our house.  But the last year or two I’ve been into football way more than normal.  Peyton Manning is my guy in the NFL.  We watch him every Sunday.  And Tennessee is my college team.  Their record is terrible right now but they’re one of those teams that are one or two plays away… Read More
