Crockpot taco chicken bowls

One of my January goals was to make a new recipe.  {Actually, who am I kidding?  That’s been on my list every month.}  There were several that I noticed throughout the course of the month, but this one jumped out at me because (1) it’s super easy to make and (2) I had all the ingredients on hand.  #score Those are my top two criteria in a recipe, btw.  {Quite possibly my only two.} Ingredients 4 chicken breasts {frozen} 1 jar salsa {16 oz} 1 can black beans 1 can fiesta corn 1 or 2 packets taco seasoning 2 cups rice… Read More

Neutral + lace + giveaway

Alright, hold up.  A neutral + a lace in the same top?   Yes, I know… it’s perfection.  But don’t thank me because all credit goes to the Mint Julep Boutique girls. When the Mint Julep reached out to me, I knew the only problem would be selecting just one item because they have so many great pieces.  {On the real, I spent an entire Saturday morning combing through their online inventory.}  I fell in love with this top because it’s such a different shade of neutral.  It’s not really grey; it’s not really brown.  But it’s also got that… Read More

Weekending | the Blowing Rock edition

Friday we got a win over a team that beat us by 20 the last time we played them.  It was so fun to watch the girls go out there and do the things we had practiced to get that dub. Gram has been in Winston helping mom with some little house projects for a few days so Mom, Dad and Gram made the trip to come watch the game Friday night.  {Bonus… they brought me birthday presents.} It was really fun to have them there.  Why didn’t I take a picture? #ugh #storyofmylife #badblogger After two games and a Zaxby’s… Read More

Fridays are my favorite

Happy Friday!  I always love seeing the weekend roll around.  These are a few of my favorite moments from this week. We had Monday off.  And typically when a three day weekend is approaching, I’m anticipating it.  But somehow, this one kind of snuck up on me.  And it was glorious.  We had a very laid back day and it gave me the chance to get ahead on laundry and a few things.  {Getting ahead is a foreign concept during basketball season.}  Plus, the best thing about a three day weekend is the four day week! So many friends and… Read More

28 things you should do

In celebration of my 28th birthday, I compiled a list of 28 things you should do. Because, obviously, I know what I’m talking about. 1. Have a weekend life that you enjoy.  Maybe it’s going out with your friends on Friday night or sleeping in on Saturday morning; either way, it’s so important to have weekends that you relish. 2.  Save money.  It will make life easier. 3. Learn to compromise. 4. Learn a few easy recipes and keep the ingredients on hand.  It’ll simplify your life. 5. Dream big. 6. Enjoy friends at different stages of life.  I love that some of… Read More

Stripes for days

What’s better than two ways to wear?  3 ways to wear. What’s better than 3 ways to wear?  A style post featuring my sisters. Meet Kenzie.  She’s an 18 year-old college freshman who plays volleyball for North Greenville University.  Her look is perfect for a college student on the go. {Side note:  I basically had to drag, beg and persuade her to be in this photoshoot.  And how great does she look??} Remember Kaitlyn?  She taught us how to refinish furniture in one afternoon and was featured in two ways to wear a leather jacket and striped shirt.  But it was… Read More

A pop of color | Creative Closet Linkup

You know how much I love my neutrals so this week’s prompt a pop of color from Jana and Maegen’s The Creative Closet linkup was probably made for my wardrobe.  I would estimate that approximately 97% of my ensembles are neutrals and then, more often than not, one item gets thrown in specifically to be a pop of color. How great do Jana and Maegen look?  I’m so honored to join in this linkup with these fashionistas!  They are some of my favorite bloggers and I always love to see how they style the prompt each week!  Fashion bloggers, join in… Read More

Weekending | the extended version

The best thing about today?  It’s still technically the weekend when you don’t have to work on Monday.  All day yesterday I kept breaking out in a huge smile and saying, “Guess what babe?  We don’t have to work tomorrow!” In my opinion, an extended weekend is right up there with chocolate and wine, in terms of my love for them. But just in case you do have to work today, I’ll stop rubbing it in your face.  Instead, I’ll show you just a peek at the awesomeness that was this weekend. Friday night started off with two wins!  When I… Read More

Faves.

Happy Friday!  These are a few of my favorites right now. {gift} David bought me an orchid.  We have this running joke about him never buying me flowers… it stems all the way back to our first few dates.  I love orchids but I killed the last one he bought me.  Here’s to hoping this guy sticks around a little longer than the last. {quote} I think I’m gonna give this to my girls.  Such a valuable life lesson… because it applies to every aspect of life. {reads} Pinky shared this article yesterday: 45 Life Lessons Written by a 90-Year-Old… Read More
