Fashion {experiment} week | sweater + summer dress

I’m always looking for ways to extend the life of my clothes.  Two ways to wear is a big deal around here.  My summer dresses almost always get some love in the winter because I can throw a jacket, scarf and boots with it during colder months.  But a chunky, slouchy sweater over a short, summer dress?  This is a first for me.  I’ve been wanting to try this look after seeing many others perfect it. If you’ve missed out on Fashion {experiment} week, you can see yesterday’s post here. I have one more Fashion {experiment} week look prepared for… Read More

Fashion {experiment} week | stripes + dots

This week has a theme: Fashion {experiment} week.  If New York gets its own fashion week with designers, celebrities and runways… I’m creating my own.  But instead of Kim Kardashian {and clan}, Versace and beautifully staged runways, we have the street in front of my house, only 1 photographer and some fun new fashion ideas I’ve been wanting to try. Today’s look is mixed patterns. Last week, I posted some ways I was inspired to mix patterns.  This week, I actually experimented with it.  Yes, we’ll probably look back in 2025 and laugh at this look but where would we be… Read More

Weekending | the Greenville edition

Ahhh, weekends.  A good weekend is good for the soul. The only thing that would have made this one better is if we could have one more day before Monday strikes. Some highlights from Greenville with Kaitlyn and Andre: – Laughter; nonstop.  There’s just something about being with family, right? – Coppy got to come along for the ride.  Actually that part was unplanned but since it was 4 degrees on Friday night, we thought he might die if he stayed home by himself.  And since both of our parents were out of town, he came down too and did… Read More

Snow days, sneak peeks and other favorites

Happy Friday! Our area was forecasted to get some snow this week so it’s been nice and low-key around here.  And it couldn’t have come at a better time for us.  David was able to get a ton of grad school work done without the pressure of working also.  I was able to clean the house and get some things rolling on a new project I have in mind for the blog. In case you missed it, I instagrammed this picture earlier in the week and I’m crazy excited about starting a new adventure on here!  More details coming soon.… Read More

Soft as a baby’s booty

Last time I was talking about booties, it was this kind: But today, it’s the other kind. via  Just kidding, today is actually NOT about baby’s butts… unless you want your face to be as soft as one.  But why do we say that?  Seriously, what a weird idiom.  And why are baby butts just totes adorbs? Rambling.  It’s what the snow does to me, apparently. Today is all about how to get crazy soft skin!  Since we were out of school on Tuesday, I enjoyed a makeup-free day {and if I’m being completely honest, I never really got dressed either}.… Read More

Spring trends YOU can try

There may be snow {ok, ice… it’s actually ice} on the ground in the southeast, but I’m dreaming of warmer temps and new trends.  These are some that I’m on the lookout for and you should be too!  dress | cardigan shirt dress | strappy tank dress black | denim     navy | white black | white clutch | tote As you’re shopping, you also need to know what to avoid.  Chevron is out. My two favorites?  The jumpsuit and the windowpane pattern.  I can’t wait to add some to my closet.  Which ones are your faves? >>Linkups<< What I… Read More

Feeling dotty

 I’ve been head over heels for mixing patterns.  Especially when it comes to polka dots.  Usually my go-to pattern for layering or mixing is stripes.  But lately, I’ve been gaga over mixing the two. Here are some ways that are inspiring me to incorporate dots into my style. These all came from Pinterest.  Except for that last one; how great does Amanda look?  She instagrammed this look yesterday and I couldn’t help but include it in my inspiration pix. My favorite thing about these inspiration looks is that it incorporates everything from denim to slacks to maxi skirts to pencil skirts.… Read More

This weekend was originally supposed to be spent in Greenville with Kaitlyn because she’s not much on the decision-making front.  So I was going to help her pick out stuff for her new house!

But some things didn’t work out on the timing end of that so we stayed around here.

In our world, Friday nights = basketball games.  And it was the last regular season game so my parents made the trip for the evening.  If I could just tell you how much fun I’ve had with these girls…

There were days when it was stressful because I didn’t have enough time to get everything done in my classroom.  And then I would get home late so I wouldn’t get everything done around the house.

But it has been so worth it.  These twelve girls have come together and made it their goal to improve every single day.  And they went out as conference champs.  Because they worked together.  Because they were committed.  Because they didn’t let setbacks define them.  Because they learned together.  Because they had fun.

Yesterday I was looking at the week ahead and it hit me that it’s over.  So I instagrammed it and got a little mushy.

But speaking of the week ahead… we’re forecasted to get some snow!  I may be the only teacher in this entire county that’s excited for some mid-week days off, but hey!  A little snow never hurt anyone.  And then we can go straight to 80 degrees!

Because of the cold temperatures and the wind, blog pictures just didn’t happen yesterday.  But I still have some fashion post ideas for this week!

Saturday was really laid back for us.  We made waffles for breakfast and drank mimosas.  Check that.  I drank one and a half mimosas.  David took one sip of his and said he didn’t like the champagne.

David made me dinner on Saturday night.  He made beef tips, macaroni, bread and potato skins.  And after all that handwork, I forgot to snap a picture.

I think it’s safe to say that I’ll never be on Meghan’s level.  Her weekend recaps always have the perfect food pictures.  The kind that make me hungry for all of it at 6am.

We watched two movies this weekend.  Both great movies that we had seen before but not in a long time.

This was my other Valentine during all the movie watching.

All in all, a great weekend!  And this week… check back for a review on Rodan + Fields mini facial!

five easy ways you can serve your man {for Valentine’s day}

Valentine’s Day is upon us and it just blows my mind that we’re already halfway through February.  To me, Valentine’s Day is kind of a ridiculous notion… every girl is supposed to consider it romantic to receive red roses on the exact same day as every other girl in the world. Let me just go ahead and tell you that since David has yet to figure out/remember that Valentine’s Day is TOMORROW, there will be none of that around here. Saturday night, we were at Scott and Sarah’s… The conversation went something like this… Scott: What are y’all doing for Valentine’s… Read More

How to tease your hair {and why it will change your life}

1.  Taking beauty pictures is a whole different game from fashion pictures.  It’s much harder. 2.  Kudos to those of you who do it on the reg. 3.  If I look high in these pictures, it’s just because the flash was making my eyes look funky.  #nodrugsneeded 4.  One of my favorite things about blogging has been getting involved in other blogs and seeing how someone else lives life.  I’ve gotten beauty tips, recipes, fashion inspiration and so much more.  Sometimes once I see how someone else does it and I try it, I make it a part of my… Read More
