Singing in the rain

Aren’t you glad this isn’t a video?  😉 RAINY DAY ESSENTIALS +cropped pants +hair up so it doesn’t matter if it gets wet +these Hunter rain boots {need!} +this cute umbrella {need!} Usually, I’m not a fan of the rain.  But it was supposed to rain here yesterday so I thought that would be the perfect day to break out the umbrella for a fun photoshoot.  No rain, but I had already envisioned the umbrella so I just stuck with. David was laughing at me. My photographer had also requested one more batch of chili and taco soup.  I decided that… Read More

Weekending | the vacation edition

It’s Monday.  And the week after vacation.  So I’m really focusing on choosing joy this morning. A week ago Saturday, David and I woke up at 5:00 to hit the road to Florida for a little spring break sun and sand.  It’s about a 10-11 hour trip so we were able to get there in time to unload, grab some takeout Japanese and then park ourselves in front of the TV to watch the first night of the final four. The rest of our vacation was a blur.  We slept in, spent the mornings on the beach, ate lunch and… Read More

Summer accessories

fedora // espadrilles // layered necklace // nail polish // bag // leopard print sneakers Accessories are the perfect way to update a look and transition some pieces from the cooler seasons.  Plus, it’s much more affordable to add a few accessories and make you feel like you’ve got a brand new wardrobe. What’s your favorite way to rejuvenate your closet with a new season? The “almost spring break” edition of Friday favorites

via We have spring break next week {#teacherlife} and today is a workday so it already feels like a win!  Please don’t ask me about the lack of packing I’ve done for our beach trip. The amount of truth in this ecard is embarrassing.  I’m convinced that there’s nowhere better to read than on the beach. Other than reading on the beach, I’m also planning to rock both of my new beach hats. Last night we took Copper to stay with my parents for the week and we celebrated David’s birthday.  #ididnthavetocook #thatsawin Ignore his terrible haircut.  The lady left… Read More

Not your mother’s one piece swimwear

I’ve been swooning over one-piece swimsuits for the last couple of years.  I haven’t bought one yet because I haven’t found one that I really liked.  I can find them all over Pinterest but not in real life.  Anyone else have any luck? Side note, my mom wears tankinis so it really won’t offend her. >>Linkups<< What I Wore Wednesday with Cappuccino and Fashion I Feel Pretty with Get Your Pretty On Jersey Girl, Texan Heart Sydney Fashion Hunter | bloglovin | instagram | facebook | pinterest | the studio |   By Claire | Filed under fashion

three real time posts in three days

Usually, I plan, photograph and write my posts on Sunday afternoon.  But since it was David’s birthday, I spent the day celebrating him! {So if I’m a bad blogger this week, at least I was a good wife!}  #thatsafirst Joey at Hodges Podges is supporting my dreams of The Studio taking off.  Go check her out!  {She claims to not be a fashion blogger but she looks pretty dadgum good to me!} I just really like the logo, so it seemed like a good time to share.  {I probably shouldn’t write any more posts at 6am.  I mean, I’m using words… Read More

Weekending | David’s birthday edition

This weekend’s alternate title would be the laziest weekend in recent memory.  It’s exactly what David said he wanted.  We basically watched movies – one he picked and one I did.  {Can you guess which was which?} Friday we went to dinner with David’s family and since our nephews were in town it was an added bonus.  They came back to our house for some cake and of course we found a little time to shoot some hoops. On Saturday morning David had to take an exam so I did a little cleaning and bought two hats for this summer.… Read More

It’s Friday and that means awesome

via Happy Friday!  Around here it’s Friday, one week until spring break and David’s birthday weekend!  Every time I ask him what he wants to do, this is the response I get… “I don’t know.”  So it looks like it’s going to be full of whatever he decides he wants to do at the last minute.  {Which is a change because, lezzzzbehonest, I’m the way more opinionated one around here.} Usually Friday posts are written on Thursday night because I like to include some of my favorite things from the week.  But last night… I was hangin’ out with these… Read More

A twist on the regular 9-5 look

Sometimes I just get so sick of wearing slacks to work.  And as a teacher, there’s no chance of wearing fun shoes.  And by that I mean heels.  So when I found these palazzo pants back in the fall, I snatched them up.  And then kind of forgot about them.  Do you ever do that?  Pulling them out this spring has been kind of fun.  Almost like new.  What’s your I’m tired of this same ol’ same ol’ office gear go to? >>Linkups<< | Joey + Kristin | Annie + Natalie | Carrie + Jill | Laura | Ash | | bloglovin | instagram | facebook | pinterest | the studio | By Claire | Filed under fashion
