Weekending

via After last week’s disappearance from bloggy blog land, I’m hoping to show my face a little more this week.  Last Sunday evening I started feeling a little rough and by Monday morning, it was much worse.  It was one of those things I couldn’t get rid of so I pretty much took a week off from life.  And I hope to never repeat it.  Except that David took really good care of me… thanks Hubby.  Here’s to a healthier and more productive week ahead! Friday evening was filled with takeout and tv shows.  How else would you spend Friday… Read More

10 reasons there’s no one else like mom

1. She’s been there for you, no matter what.  For your entire life.  I mean, the list could end right here. 2. She came to everything you ever participated in.  Dance recitals, ball games, school plays… she was there for all of it.  Even the really boring stuff. 3.  Was it just me, or was Mom the best person to wake you up when you still lived at home?  She used to rub my back and be so patient with my teenage-grumpy-in-the-morning-self. 4.  She tried to change your mind about all the little details of your wedding.  Mine wanted the… Read More

Maxi skirt + top | that actually wears like a dress

Would you believe me if I said that I really tried to come up with something to post about other than a maxi skirt?  On the real, I looked back through a few drafts I have saved, a few pictures that have caught my attention on Pinterest.  And… nada.  Nothing.  It just wasn’t working. I was inspired to recreate this look because I saw several people wearing black maxi dresses with a cardigan over it.  So in order to curb my apparel envy, I just paired the black maxi skirt with a black tank.  Ta-da… you can’t even tell the… Read More

Top 5 reasons to rock a maxi this spring

On second thought, lets not limit that to spring.  I’m all about wearing maxis year around but I’ve grown borderline obsessed with them over the past few weeks. 1. Oh your legs are still winter white?  That can be our little secret. 2. You can dress it up or down.  Always a fave, if you ask me. 3.  One of those days where you just really want to throw on some yoga pants?  I bet a maxi skirt is just as comfy.  Try it.  {And let’s be real… that’s worth all 5 reasons by itself.} 4.  If you own a maxi… Read More

Friday favorites

{How long has Pinterest been calling it saving instead of pinning?  I just noticed it when I found this quote last night.} Here are a few of my favorites from this week! Articles | I read two good ones this week I know Lilly Pulitzer for Target was EVERYWHERE this week but it’s really not my thing.  I kind of enjoyed this article about how it’s just a lower quality and everyone went crazy buying 654684351 pieces just so they could ebay them.  I mean, really? Adult life is sometimes synonymous with boring.  But it’s also nice to know that other people are… Read More

Stripes, maxi + chambray

When I wore this outfit yesterday to work, I sent a snapchat to a few friends that said: New maxi.  It’s not Monday.  It’s not raining. Those were literally my three favorite things about 7:30am on Tuesday. After wearing this skirt all day, I just love the movement and the way it flows.  Over the weekend, I ran into TJ Maxx to grab two picture frames for Mom’s birthday present.  I came out with a bag, a maxi skirt, two bathing suits and two candles.  $150 later, let’s just say I won’t be shopping again for a while.  But that’s… Read More

Pastel life

When you’re a fashion blogger who also works full time, it can be difficult to find time to schedule photo shoots.  Add to the mix: a husband who’s in grad school two/three nights  each week.  I’ve found that Sunday afternoons work best for us. But when it rains for 9 days straight, it’s even more difficult.  And since I did the whole umbrella thing last week, I’d hate to be unoriginal. With the spring weather, I’m gravitating toward lighter colors.  One of my favorite ways to change up my look, is with fun nail polish.  Here are some of my… Read More

Weekending | The unpicture edition

Yes, I just made up that word.  Unpicture. Friday, Dave and I were both in a get it done mood.  He mowed the lawn while I did some cleaning around the house.  Then we decided to grab some dinner from Longhorn or Outback.  On our way to dinner, we remembered a few errands that needed to be run so we got those things checked off our lists, too.  After accomplishing so much, we settled on Chick-fil-A for dinner instead.   #wildfridaynight On Saturday, Kenzie had some volleyball scrimmages in the area plus it was Mom’s birthday so we decided to… Read More
