Gender reveal

How fitting is it that we found out the gender of our baby on the first day of summer?  We were lucky enough to get the doctor’s office to agree to do our ultrasound appointment a few days early.  {I was 18 weeks on Sunday so it normally would have been done some time this week, but since we’re at the beach they agreed to move it up a few days.} After the ultrasound tech mashed on my stomach for 30 minutes, we took the envelope to a friend’s house so she could wrap a onesie for us to open… Read More

Appetizer | Toasted ravioli bites

One of my favorite things ever {like, ever ever} is getting together with some friends and munching on yummy food.  Let’s get real, who doesn’t?  But I love when everyone brings a little appetizer or side dish and we just make that our dinner.  I would do that every night for dinner if I could. We’ve done the appetizer things twice recently and I’ve made two new dishes that I’ve really enjoyed.  The first idea came from Pinterest… shocker, right?  I was having a few girls over but I wanted to make something a little different.  I settled on toasted… Read More

Pink or blue?

Today is the day!!! One thing that every mother {to-be} looks forward to is finding out if their child is a boy or girl.  I haven’t really gotten a feeling one way or the other.  There are things about a girl that I would really be excited about and other things about a boy.  When the second one comes along, I might have a stronger opinion. Here are a few old wive’s tales to determine the gender so I thought it would be fun to make some predictions. 1. Carrying high or low?  Ancient wisdom says if your baby bump… Read More

Summer bucket list

Today is officially our last day of the 2014-2015 school year!!  While there are a lot of seasons that make the lives of two educators very hectic, we really do enjoy having some time off in the summer. Our summers usually kick off with family vacations and then the rest of it is pretty low-key.  This year, I want to make a conscious effort to get some things checked off the list and make some memories.  My focus is to get better organized and throw out all the crap that we accumulate but don’t really need.  After all, next summer will… Read More

Love // hate // tag

Andrea nominated me for this fun challenge.  Here’s the rules:  the person “tagged” must share 10 things they love, 10 things they hate, and then nominate up to 10 other bloggers to do the same! It’s a great way to get to know others! I really tried to come up with 10 loves and hates that went beyond the obvious.  You know, so I didn’t include things like a day off as something I love or getting in a car wreck on my hate list.  {Hate list, that sounds bad, doesn’t it?}  Life’s all about the little things so these are a… Read More

What’s a hero?

Ever since the Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner cover of Vanity Fair magazine came out and everyone immediately hailed him/her as a hero, I haven’t been able to get this idea out of my head. And it’s not that I’m some Kardashian hater.  Much to my husband’s dismay, I’ve been a lukewarm fan of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.  So I’m not a total stranger to Bruce Jenner and his hobbies.  There’s just something about reality TV that draws me in.  I love to learn about the way of life for those who I have nothing in common with.  {Some of my other… Read More

Nailed it | favorite manicured looks

I think of myself as being mostly… low key when it comes to beauty.  Whether that means the time or money spent on beauty items, both are fairly low on my priority list.  Today, I literally didn’t brush my hair.  I’m going for this natural look.  It may or may not be working, but that’s beside the point.  What I’m really getting at is that I’m not some high-maintenance, spends-an-hour-on-her-hair-every-day, can’t-go-anywhere-without-makeup kinda girl. Except when it comes to nails.  There’s just something about having manicured nails that just makes me happy.  And yes it chips off sometimes or is a waste… Read More

The outfit for anything this spring

When it comes to fashion, I’m all about versatility.  I just love it when I find something that can be worn to work but also have that fun vibe that I can wear on the weekends.  It makes me feel like my life is pulled together and I can accomplish anything.  #onlyhalfwaykidding My first piece?  White denim.  It’s bright and edges out it’s regular, blue counterparts in the festive department.  It can also look a little bit dressier when paired with the right accessories. I’m such a fan of flowy blouses.  When they’re in cobalt blue, they just might have… Read More

The week that I actually remembered to take pictures

#ThatsAFirst Friday, you seemed to roll around pretty quickly this week.  And I love that!  We’re winding down the school year which is also exciting.  Yesterday, I realized that I can finally see the end in sight which means summer is right around the corner.  And with that, we’ll roll right into the favorites of the week. School quote | And all the teachers said “AMEN!” Snack | I made homemade Chex Mix and I may or may not be chowing down on it as I type at this very moment.  So much better than store-bought! June goals

Woah, remember when I used to do these updates monthly?  This was one of my favorite posts to do as a blogger.  It felt like it kept me on track to get some things done.  And then I got pregnant and if I would have written out monthly goals for April and May, it would have looked like this: Just make it through each day.  That was my focus.  And I did!!  So now, I’m trying to check a few things off a list this month.  I mean, I’m not getting too crazy because we’re finishing up the school year now… Read More
