Happy November first! I can’t believe we’re already in November. I feel like this is the fastest part of the year. Halloween — ✅ Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here before we know it. Plus, we have a birthday to celebrate, Aunt Kenzie’s senior night, Uncle Corbin’s tournament… and probably some other things I’m forgetting. But before we move along to all those exciting things, here are a few things I’m loving right now.
- Black elderberry. I wrote a post about it here and I’m pretty convinced that it seriously lightened our most recent cold. It doesn’t completely take it away but I’m telling you I never felt bad. And it was one of those colds that stuck around for a long time. But I never felt sick. I was blowing my nose a lot (people loved hanging around me 😉) but it never got to that phase of I just really want to stay in bed. I had a bunch of questions so I updated the post with answers to those.
- Halloween costumes. I mean, it wouldn’t be a very good November 1 post without mentioning last night, would it? Ari got to wear her bumblebee costume three times this year and the first time I put it on her I was all 😍😍😍.
Me: Oh my gosh! 😍 Is this for the parent or the kid?
Dave: Definitely the parent.
It’s safe to say I was just loving the black and yellow. So yesterday I was feeling all inspired and decided to amp up my cat ears with a little makeup. I was actually pretty impressed with how it turned out because I rarely even wear eye-liner. The whole time I was putting it on, Ari kept looking at me saying, “Mess, Mama. Clean up,” and pointing at my face. David, of course, couldn’t stop laughing. - Life. You know, this time last year I would have given just about anything for life to look the way it does right now. I’m having so much fun with Ari and over the past 12 months we’ve met so many friends who have become an important part of our lives. A year ago, there were times when I felt lonely and I was constantly looking for things to fill up our day. I was praying for friends who were in similar stages of life. God has answered those prayers. Our days are beautifully full and on the rare free morning, I really enjoy it. We get extra snuggles. Or get a jump-start on the to-do list. I’ve started working a full day on Wednesdays and Ari goes to Grandma’s house — she couldn’t be more thrilled. I usually tell her while she’s still in her crib and then while she gets dressed/eats breakfast/brushes her teeth/climbs in her carseat, she asks me: Gr-mama house? I really love having this day where I get so much accomplished for LearnEd. Thursday morning Bible study has been a huge blessing — and let me tell you, I wouldn’t have chosen to study Nehemiah on my own. I’m really just thankful for the seasons of life and being able to look back on how things have grown.
What are you loving right now?
