It’s Monday. And the week after vacation. So I’m really focusing on choosing joy this morning.
A week ago Saturday, David and I woke up at 5:00 to hit the road to Florida for a little spring break sun and sand. It’s about a 10-11 hour trip so we were able to get there in time to unload, grab some takeout Japanese and then park ourselves in front of the TV to watch the first night of the final four.
The rest of our vacation was a blur. We slept in, spent the mornings on the beach, ate lunch and then went back out for more beach time in the afternoon. We also managed to squeeze some movie-watching and napping into our days.
It’s a rough life but somebody’s gotta do it. It was so nice to get away for a week and spend time not thinking about work or grad school or any real responsibilities.
David has been requesting a super easy Mexican-inspired crockpot recipe so I threw all the ingredients into the crockpot one morning. Around 6:00 that evening, he went into the kitchen to check on dinner.
“Uhhh, babe. What’s your plan B for dinner?”
I feel like I’m winning if I have a plan for dinner. I can’t think of one single time I’ve ever had a good backup dinner plan. Turns out I had put everything in the crockpot but hadn’t bothered to plug the darn thing in. #fail
The highlight of our Florida beach trip is always a night at Schooners.
