High five for Friday!

I just love it when the weekend rolls back around… and quickly this time!  Having a four day week was on point.  I’m requesting one every week from now on.  Here are my 5 favorites from this week.

We had a gift card to a new restaurant so we went out for dinner last night.  {David is hilarious when it comes to expensive food.  Give the man Zaxbys chicken fingers and fries and he’s in heaven.  An $8 dollar salad that’s not a part of your meal?  Not really his thing.  But he does make comments the whole time that crack me up.  “For this price, they should be feeding this to me.”}

We don’t usually do anything differently on Thursday nights than any other night of the week so our new goal is to celebrate Thursdays.  It’s one of the things I miss most about college… Thursday was the start of the weekend!

Speaking of weekends… how ’bout last weekend?  My parents were headed to Greenville on Saturday so they stayed with us Friday night.  We went to dinner and then laughed at the dogs the rest of the evening.  Copper is a big, shaggy, clumsy guy and Tyson is an uptight, tiny little guy.  They’re exact opposites but hilarious when they get together.  It’s non-stop action.  {We may or may not have given them voices.}  I’m always a fan of catching up in person rather than over the phone.  Plus, my mom’s been cleaning out stuff at her house and she found an envelope of my college stuff… pictures that were on my desk, notes friends had written me.  It was such a fun trip down memory lane.

Sunday night we went to dinner with our favorite friends.  It’s always something to celebrate when you don’t have to work on Monday!  And then our nephews were in town on Monday so we went swimming with them.  Great weekend.

 Don’t you love how God takes scary situations and reminds us to be thankful?   David pressure washed the driveway on Tuesday night and came in with an intense rash.  After  a few more symptoms continued to appear, I called his mom to get advice.  His parents were here for several hours with his uncle who’s a doctor on speaker.   It reminded me how thankful I am…
…that we’re usually healthy
…that we have family close by
…for David
…that we didn’t end up in the ER
…that he works with a supportive group who watched over him the next
day at work

Sometimes I need to be reminded of those things.

School has started off really well this year.  Things are busy {when are they not?} but smooth.  I’ve got some really great kids in my classes and there’s a new energy in the air.  We had a basketball interest meeting this week… which means the season is right around the corner!

I’ve had so much support as I’ve stepped into the blog world and I can’t thank you enough for that.  It has honestly kept me going.  I’ve had so much fun writing, designing, brainstorming, learning… and everything else.   To all of you who have texted, commented or messaged me about the blog, it means the world to me.  Seriously.  There’s been a couple of times where I’ve been doubtful… is anyone even reading this?  Maybe people don’t really care.  And every time, God sends one of you to say, “Hey, love reading your blog.”  One friend commented one day, saying, “It’s just so YOU.”  That’s exactly what I want this to be.  A reflection of my life.  So thanks for joining me in this journey.  If you ever have suggestions for posts… let me know!  I have social media accounts set up for f+f but haven’t really used them yet.  Hoping to start that soon.  And If you have other friends who you think would enjoy this, tell them about it!  I’d love to “meet” others through this process.

    Claire, dear, I absolutely love the blog and seeing your pics and comments. It is like a mini visit with you and I am getting to know great things about you and what you like and what is goin on with you and Dave. So glad he is better. Granddaddy has had a rash for about 6 weeks (allergy I guess) and so we can sympathize with Dave. Keep up the good work, you are doing a great job. I thought of one easy recipe if you like Tuna from a can. It is a good quick meal.
    Creamed Tuna: One or two cans of tuna in water. Drain and set aside. In a skillet, melt a couple of tablespoons of butter and stir in a tablespoon of flower mixing till smooth. Add a cup of milk and one can of tuna. Mix in a can of small minature green peas Add little more milk if needed.. Salt a little to taste. Toast two or three pieces of your favorite bread and pour tuna mixture over the toast. You can also sprinkle parmesean cheese on top of that if you like. Recipe is enough for two pieces of toast each. With the peas in this it really makes a meal, however you can always add a small salad too. Love you, granddaughter and love your blog!

    • Thanks for the recipe, Grandmother. I’ll have to try that one. You know how much I love easy recipes!
