Hey Sweetness,
How’s my girl? Happy as long as you’re banging two spoons on the tile floor? Two spoons that you swiped from the dishwasher and the proceed to carry with you to each room in the house. Let’s just say, you never show up unannounced. Yep, that’s life currently.
For some reason, you’re not a fan of wearing a bib while you eat. Two days ago at lunch, you refused to eat any fruit or chicken. (Crackers or baked beans… you were all over those.) As soon as you yanked on your bib hard enough to un-velcro it in the back, you went straight for the strawberries. We used to eat off the floor, now we eat bib-less. I think it’s safe to say that you know what you want and will stop at nothing to achieve it.
You had a big month: Labor Day weekend at the lake with the whole Hoots family and then Uncle Corbin and Auntie KK visiting on consecutive weekends. You always do so well when we travel or alter your schedule in some way. I bet you’ll be just like your Dada (favorite word!) and be a unique mix of stubborn and go-with-the-flow. (Seriously, how is that even possible?)
For the longest time, even when you were capable, you’d never sit up or pull up in your crib. And then one day I swear you did both and there’s been no turning back. If ever a video monitor has proven to be a good investment, it’s now. You sit there and talk to yourself, walk along the edges, try to turn the light on… And when I’m supposed to be cleaning the kitchen or getting work done, I sit there and watch you!
Last month I mentioned that I could see your wheels turning and you attempted to mimic us. Now, you click your tongue when we do or cough when Grandma coughs. My absolute favorite thing ever is watching your face light up as you crawl to Dada when he gets home. There’s seriously nothing better.
He may have been home more last month but it’s back to 12 hour days — I think we got spoiled over the summer! Your nonstop babble mostly sounds like, “Dadadadadadada.” So I got in the habit of saying, “Where is your Dada?” The first time I said then when he wasn’t here and your head was on a swivel, searching for him, I realized that you were making more of a connection than I was giving you credit for.
I love you so much,
Mom
