1. Make a new recipe again.
Does all the Christmas baking count? K, good.
2. Have devotions on the weekend.
I didn’t do this consistently enough so it’ll rollover into January. David got me a book for Christmas called Jesus Today {by the author of Jesus Calling}.
3. Bake Christmas goodies for gifts.
See #1. And it was so much fun. And so much deliciousness. We even have a handful of chocolate covered pretzels still left!
4. Send Christmas cards and do a Christmas craft.
Christmas cards – I designed them and had them printed. They sat on my kitchen counter for weeks {I blame basketball season for zero free time} and then I hand delivered a few. But none of them got mailed. FAIL.
But if I posted it on here, it counts for something, right?
And for a super easy and festive craft, I’m pretty obsessed with these.
5. Finish Christmas shopping {ONLINE} and wrap presents.
I did do some shopping online and I really enjoyed it. I know some who shop solely online and I get it – it’s so much easier to sit on your couch in your yoga pants with no makeup on and click a few buttons and have the package delivered to your door. But it only works for me if I know what I want to purchase. If I don’t have something in mind, I have trouble browsing online. Anybody else with me?
And as for the wrapping, pretty much everything was in bags. But I still count that.
6. Drive to look at lights.
On Christmas evening, we had just wrapped up Christmas with David’s family and we were leaving on the 26th to meet up with my family. So we drove around for about an hour to look at lights. In our pajamas. It was the perfect new tradition.
7. Remember to hang advent ornament and enjoy this season!
I didn’t remember everyday to hang the ornament but when I did remember, I usually hung a few days at a time… you know, to get ahead.
But I absolutely loved this season. So much that I’m not ready to take the tree down. Actually, I haven’t taken any of it down. Is that weird? But {in order to prevent being labeled a crazy person} I’ve given myself a deadline of Sunday.
Now on to this month’s goals.
For this month, I’m keeping it short, sweet and simple.
1. Devotions – even on the weekends.
Ever since I’ve started these monthly goals in September, I’ve tried to hold myself accountable for starting the morning off right with a few minutes of devotions. And it’s become such an important part of our routine. Being rooted in Jesus changes your entire day. Which changes your entire life.
I used to use the excuse that I’m not a morning person or I don’t have time. And I’m really not a morning person. {David could tell you some good stories.} But the bottom line is we make time for the things that are important to us. So I decided to give my day a kickstart and I haven’t looked back since.
But even though devotions are a part of our morning routine… the key word is routine. So Monday through Friday, we’re on it.
Saturday and Sunday? Or a day off? We’ve gotta step up our game.
2. Memorize a verse.
I’m not really into resolutions but I’m all about some goals and lists. One goal I wrote down for 2015 is to be more loving. What better place to start than a verse?
3. Make a new recipe.
Over the last few months, I’ve learned some new recipes. November’s was a huge hit around here – David even ranked it over chili.
I hate using cookbooks; I’d prefer to get a recipe from a friend or use Pinterest. So if you’ve got an easy dinner recipe, please please PLEASE share!
4. Enjoy life.
When I was reflecting and writing down goals for this year, I mentioned rolling with the punches {which is obviously not my strongest suit} and collecting moments rather than things.
So rather than adding so many more things to accomplish this month, I’m just going to sit back and enjoy the days. And by that I mean that basically every free second is monopolized by basketball. And I’m going to enjoy that. I love the girls, I love the game. And I’m so thankful for this opportunity.
What goals have you set for this month? Because if you don’t write them down, they’re probably not going to get accomplished.
