Today marks the third straight thankful Thursday. It’s also the next step in our {love} story. {Two of my favorite things in one place.}
July 24, 2010 was hands down, without a doubt, the best day of my life.
And for that I’m so thankful! Thankful to every single person who played a role in making every wedding-day dream come true. Yes, there were {small} bumps along the road. But the day was filled with our favorite people in the entire world, a party, and at the end of the day, we were starting a new life together.
But before the party… there was all this.
claire + david | the details
My dress was one of my favorite details of the day. This was actually my second dress because we had a catastrophe with the first {but that’s a story for another day}. When I was trying on dresses at boutiques with my mom and sisters, my mom kept saying, “Claire. You cannot choose your dress based on what the back of it looks like.” Oh really, mom?
There’s just something about a dress with a detailed back, right?

claire + david | the first glance
We went against tradition and saw each other before the ceremony. It was absolutely the best decision we made about that day. It took so much of the stress off to have pictures taken ahead of time. And it was still a special time for us as we saw each other for the first time on our wedding day.

At the rehearsal dinner, David’s mom had a DVD put together with pictures… starting with our childhoods. David went through about a 3 year span where he showed off his muscles in every picture. So obviously the girls thought they should pay tribute to the “Dave pose.”
Our families. We love you guys so much.

David’s dad did our ceremony and it was incredibly personalized. We laughed {and his brother cried} throughout the whole thing!
We have almost an identical picture from my sister’s wedding. That’s Dad’s proud face.

We left the church immediately and drove the 10 minutes to the reception location. The entire wedding party hung out in a secret room until all the guests arrived and we were introduced into the reception.

I think the sheer perfection and dreams come true aspect of my wedding is what has made me so… interested in weddings since then. I love going to weddings, reading about weddings, looking at pictures from weddings. Basically anything on the wedding topic.
You’ll have to come back next week to see all the pictures from our reception!
And you know I’m linking up with Joey and Kristin for Stuff and Things!
