Check out my September goals here.
Even after only one month of this monthly list, I have to tell you… I LOVE IT. Even those of you who are not bloggers, you should totally do this. It’s so motivating.
Here’s a quick recap of how I did on my September goals.
1. Devotions… check! This one has been a game-changer. Reading the bible and devotional books with David every morning before work has put us both in such a good place mentally and emotionally.
2. New recipe… Yep! Check out yesterday’s post. Southwest chicken bake is delicious and it left enough for a second dinner.
3. Fall decorations… yep! Check out the post here. And since I decorated, I went on a little project kick. And it took me foreverrrrrr. About three weeks. Lets see, first I was missing the software CD, then a necessary chord to connect the machine to my computer was MIA, then I had to buy contact paper, then I couldn’t get the machine to work , then I got really frustrated. But my mom helped me this weekend and I’m in love! {Don’t judge me if it stays up longer than what’s typically acceptable for fall decorations. Kidding. Kind of.}
Mom spent A LOT of time on Saturday doing this. At least 4 hours. True dedication right there.
4. The book… eeeek. No. I took too much time away from it and then just couldn’t get back into it. It just hasn’t been a priority. {Shame on me; I know.} I’m kicking myself for this one. But, I haven’t returned it to the library yet so… it could still happen.
5. Blog posts weekly… mmhmm, and even exceeded this one. I’ve had one up every day during the week. I’m having a blast learning how to blog and I’m so glad you guys are reading. {If you ever have ideas or suggestions for posts… let me know!}
6. Thursdays… No… we’ve done a terrible job of this. Since David has class two nights a week, sometimes there’s just stuff we have to get done. I still like the idea… just don’t know how feasible it is in our schedule right now.
7. Verse… Sort of. Is that possible? I picked out a verse this month and it stuck with me but I can’t exactly recite it.
Here are my goals for this month.
1. Devotions daily. This is my favorite goal because I can tell such a difference in my outlook. I kind of tend to go in phases with this. Like I’ll get on a roll for a week or two and be really good about having a quiet time. And then suddenly I’ll slack off and then it’s a week or two before I pick up with my consistency again. But putting it on my list made a huge difference.
2. One new recipe. I’m planning to make this one a repetitive goal also. I haven’t picked one out yet but… I’m sure Pinterest can help with this. Or, if you have one to share, please do!
3. Five blog posts weekly. This one has become somewhat routine so it may be the last time it makes my monthly goals list. Yes, blogging is a lot of work and can take a lot of time… but I’m so into it. Love you guys for reading!
4. Prepare for a 5k. And I’m not a runner. AT ALL. I hate it. My left knee has bothered me since… my sophomore year of high school and it hurts most when I run long distances so I’ve kind of avoided it for most of my life. Last spring I did do some running when I was more consistent in the gym but I’ve slacked off since then. We have a very close family friend who passed away from ocular melanoma so there’s a 5k in early November to raise money for a cure. She was David’s “second mom” and I got to know her pretty well in the last few years so we’d like to run in her honor. Anyone runners out there have any tips or suggestions for me? We’re about 5 weeks out.
5. Memorize a verse. I kinda-sorta did this for September so I want to do a better job for October.
6. Spend a day in the mountains. I love being in the mountains but somehow fall is the best time. We haven’t made any specific plans yet but I’m hopeful that we can squeeze this in. This is our last month before basketball season starts so we’re gonna have to live it up!
What are your goals for this month? Seriously, you need to do it. Sit down and write a few things you’d like to accomplish for October. It just might change your life.
