The best guy ever. Wanna know a little about him? I could tell you he’s an EC teacher turned assistant principal and he’s in grad school… and those would be the basics. But that wouldn’t be who he is.
1. He gives pizza to strangers. A few weeks ago, David left to pick up a pizza for dinner. He had talked me into Domino’s… which isn’t my favorite. I mean, Little Caesar’s is closer and has crazy bread. But I was just thankful to not have to make dinner so Domino’s it was. He walked back in the door with Little Caesar’s. When I asked him about it, he commented that it was a God-thing. This was his explanation: “I was on my way to Domino’s but the road was blocked off. So I went to Little Caesar’s instead and there was a guy sitting outside. So I bought him a pizza. When I gave it to him, he said that he was really hungry.” And that’s David. He sees a need and does something about it.
2. He’s tar heel born and tar heel bred. People that I work with who didn’t really know David used to laugh when I would comment that he only wears Carolina blue. Oh, how true that is. {And those of you who know him are nodding in agreement right now.} He was raised a Carolina fan, went to school there, worked with the basketball team while he was there and then worked for the athletic department after he graduated. Not to mention that his brother still works for the basketball team so he’s got that inside connection.
3. He’s the best uncle ever. We have two nephews… Brady and Jackson. They’re the cutest little guys and David loves them to death. Any time we get to see them, he’s so happy. He plays with them, feeds them, reads to them, bathes them and rocks them. He’ll do anything except change them. But they also love him like crazy. I guarantee you won’t find a more loving, involved uncle anywhere.444444444444444444444. 4. Tar heel born, tar heel bred. 4. He doesn’t understand anything related to beauty or fashion. {I mean NOTHING.} I remember the first few times he saw me put makeup on. He would get an inch from my face and say, “Do people know you wear that?” And he was dead serious. And that continued for at least a year. To this day, he calls my eyelash curler an eye gouge. When we were dating, he made a comment that will live in the Pierce family forever. My sisters and I were talking about hair… I think one of them was about to get their hair cut or something. David said, “Are those bangs? Or vangs?” And of course we all died laughing. He also doesn’t know if a sweater is called a carnigan or a cardigan. And he’s recently learned the word “trendy” but he thinks it’s “trending” so he says it that way every time.
5. He’s a movie guy. Which would be fine if his wife was a movie girl… but, that’s not the case. {Oops!} I like movies. Sometimes. I like comedies {all the time}, chick flicks {half of the time} and action movies {but only the really good ones}. I also cannot stay awake for movies to save my life. Every time we rent one, it takes us a minimum of 3 nights before I finish it. {I know, I know, it’s bad.}
He’s my favorite person on the planet. I couldn’t imagine anyone better to spend my life with {Thanks, God!}.
{I don’t have any pictures of just David… I’m in all of them. So I pulled out some older ones that I hadn’t seen in a while. It was a fun little trip down memory lane!}
