Sometimes I actually want to give someone a high five just for making it this far in the week. At my school, Friday is jeans day so that makes it even more delicious… I can taste the weekend. This week has been incredibly busy and I kind of need things to slow down a bit. Great, just so busy. Here’s a look back at my favorite moments…
On Saturday, we went to Greenville to watch Kenzie play college volleyball for the first time {I’m so old, how is she in college?}. She won both games on Saturday and got some serious minutes! {Do you even say that in volleyball?} In typical Pierce style, we had a crew there… Mom and Dad, Gram and Aunt Sue, Kaitlyn and Andre. We all know any good weekend centers around food. We went to grab Mexican food in between games and then David and Andre concocted a plan to meet again for Italian food after the second game. We seriously can’t go to Greenville without hitting up Bocca. So after the second game, we went out for a second dinner and the kitchen had to stay open late for us {good thing the owners consider Andre their long lost son or something}. All Saturday nights should be full of pasta, bread, pizza and a bottle of chianti.
And what do we do Saturday morning? Meet up for brunch, of course. {Basically, we spent the weekend in a food coma.} There are times when I wish we all lived in the same town… because, let’s be real, Kenzie would do all my cooking for me, Kaitlyn would be over doing projects with me 24/7. But I’m also thankful that when we do get together, it’s something special. It’s out of the ordinary. So, it really makes me treasure it.

At brunch on Sunday, I leaned over to Kenz and said, “Want to go to Charming Charlie after this?” She’s like, “Sure. Is it close?” I knew there was one in Greenville so we googled it… 3 miles. All the girls hit up some Charming Charlie accessories… because, really? Does it get any better? I seriously considered limiting myself to $100. But I ended up showing some self-control and only walked out with a bag {on clearance!}, a scarf {on clearance!} and a watch.

Monday night, we started Bible study again. I had forgotten how much I missed it. It’s just a small group of girls who gather every Monday to share our lives, pray for each other and study His word. For this fall, we chose a book called Power in Praise {Merlin R. Carothers}. It was written in the 70’s but it’s really powerful. A few years ago, we studied One Thousand Gifts {Ann Voskamp} and it’s still the best book I’ve ever read. Life changing. Power in Praise reminded me a lot of that one. It focuses on praising God for things in our life instead of asking Him to change them. Those things in our life that we {often} want to change are what He’s using to mold us and to bring glory to Himself. Powerful stuff.

Tuesday evening we picked up Zaxbys {David’s idea of perfection} and hit up the lake with Katrina and Angelo. It was seriously the highlight of my week. We enjoyed a glass of red wine with our fried chicken {we like to keep it classy}. There’s just something about sitting around with your favorite people on the lake… I’m pretty sure that’s what heaven will be like.

New beginnings are always exciting to me. Pre-season basketball workouts started up and it was great to be with the girls again. My favorite part is looking back on this time last year… some of the girls are at a completely different place than they were a year ago. I love watching the improvement and transformation they go through, because to me, that’s success.
