I didn’t say the air outside. Maybe I’ll just set the thermostat on 60 and snuggle up in a blanket with my fall decor all around me and pretend it’s cold outside, too. Just kidding.
Erin painted these for me a few weeks after I met her. All of her hand-lettered designs are out of this world. {Seriously, the first time I ever asked her to write something for me, she said, “Sure. What font do you want?” Dafont.com has nothing on her.} I’m obsessed with these because I can reuse them every year.
I made this wreath a few years ago and I don’t love it but it works for now. I think what it really needs is a big, burlap bow.
This is on the table as you enter the front door. This is actually one of my favorite fall decorations. I have no idea why popcorn kernels just scream FALL to me, but they do.
On the ottoman, I put out more white pumpkins. {They were orange but I spray painted them.} Just a small touch of fall. And some burlap. Burlap always feels like fall to me.
Yep, this is is way early. In my mind, these should go out at the end of October. But… they’re out now because I’ve forgotten them in previous years and then all of a sudden, I get Christmas decorations out and put fall stuff up… and find these. Plus, I assume any season is a good time to give thanks. They were so easy to make. I just soaked wine and beer bottles to take the labels off, spray painted them and then stenciled the letters on.
I wish I had somewhere better to display them. Our house doesn’t have a mantle so I have to find other places. Here’s the full view.
See? They’re hard to read up there. Especially with the fan in the way. {But from my spot on the couch they’re a good reminder.}
I like how this turned out because I usually do placemats on the table so this gives it a different look. It was time for something new. {Those are actually placemats that I laid out in the form of a runner. I was wanting a burlap runner but sometimes ya just gotta make due.}
Anddd… this is one last piece I threw together. I had all of this from other things. The branches were from a baby shower. The… “other stuff” {I don’t know how else to categorize it. It kind of looks like straw?} was from Kaitlyn’s wedding. I put it all together and then realized I didn’t have a good space for it. Right now, it’s on the bar in between the kitchen and living room. {Key words: right now.}
I also have a project in mind… but sometimes my projects don’t go exactly as planned. I tend to see something I want to create, and…
assume it will take an hour or two
get in the middle of it with everything spread all over the house
discover I’m missing an important piece
{David goes to bed or asks about dinner, depending on what time I started}
consider driving to AC Moore
decide it’s too late/I don’t have enough time/they’re already closed
{David’s asleep or starved}
figure out it’s taking way more than an hour
leave everything spread out all over the house
get frustrated
Actually, I get frustrated around step 3 and then get more frustrated with every following step. Ya feel me? So for now this will do… unless you want to have a craft date with me {ahem, Katrina}. Because doing a craft with a friend makes it so much more fun/less stressful.
Now all that’s left is for the weather to get on board. I’m ready for crisp mornings and crunchy leaves.
