It’s great when the weekend starts on Tuesday, right?
The day right before a break is always chaotic. This one was a bit more hectic than I had imagined.
Tuesday was the first game for our basketball girls. I sat down during warmups and thought, Oh man. What have I forgotten? What if we’re not ready for this? I commented to an assistant coach if we could score and then get into our press, we’d be fine.
They were ready. We ended up with a final score of 50-11 and had to pull off the press after the first quarter because the other team couldn’t handle it. It was the perfect start to the season. {Not the mention the impending 5 day break from school and basketball.}
And then varsity girls won in the exact same fashion.
{And for all you non-basketballers out there, I promise not to turn this into a basketball blog during the season. But it will get mentioned on a regular basis because I love it so much and I’m so proud of these girls!}
Wednesday morning, David and I headed to Atlanta. This was our view for the first hour.
And then we found Chick-fil-A and a chicken biscuit made it all better.
{And by “found,” I mean that I googled it and we had to go a few miles out of our way to get to it. I can’t help it. I’m in love with Chick-fil-A breakfast. Who else is with me? Their breakfast is wayyyyy better than their lunch/dinner.}
On our ride down, we were trying to figure out how long we’ve been doing the Atlanta trip for Thanksgiving. Timehop told us it’s been at least 7 years.
Pop has been missing from our celebrations for a few years but he’s still there in spirit. Love you and miss you!
Wednesday consisted of hanging out and catching up. And eating our first turkey.
As long as we’ve been doing Thanksgiving Atlanta-style, we’ve been taking a group picture. This year, Gram texted and asked if we’d all wear blue.
So much to be thankful for!
Namely… food, followed by naps.
Friday morning, David and I got up early {7 is early on a day off} to head back to North Carolina to see our adorable nephews!
We spent the day hanging with chasing them around. And we had so much fun that we forgot to stop and take pictures. Except this one I snapped after Jackson and I woke up from a nap.
Best way to wake up!
On Saturday, we had to recuperate from all our travels and family time. So we watched Christmas movies, shopped online, bought a refrigerator, watched football and hung Christmas lights outside.
{Side note: why has it taken me so long to jump on the online shopping bandwagon?}
There’s something about Christmas lights that makes me ridiculously giddy. I can’t help it. {And I’m pretty sure if you asked my dad, he would have a story about it from when I was 7.}
And yes, we keep it classy with our visible extension chords.
After I instagrammed the picture of the Christmas tree, I hashtagged it with who wants to come over for a party? So now that we have outdoor lights… lets just say that if we had any free weekends, there would be one planned.
As great as it’s been, I’ve really missed blogging. This is the most time off I’ve taken since starting F+F! Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!
