First of all, how is it November already? In case you missed it, I posted on Saturday about the Liebster award, a blogging consultation and thankful Thursdays.
Second… take a look back at my October goals. Here’s a recap…
1. We are in the routine of doing devotions together every morning. I wish we had started this so much sooner. This month, we spent most of our mornings reading a few pages from Power in Praise. One chapter was kinda weird but the rest of it was on point. It was such good reminder to be thankful for everything… even the things that frustrate us.
2. I got two new soup recipes in the last week or two from friends at work. I made one and it was a total flop. Like I have no idea what I did wrong. It was meant to be potato soup but it turned out to be… just potatoes. David kept talking about how hungry he was and how he couldn’t wait to get home to eat it. And then… we went out to eat because it wasn’t even salvageable. But I did post my chili recipe. And it’s our favorite of all time. If you don’t have one, you need to make this. Right now. For dinner tonight.
3. I kind of obsessed with this world of blogging. So yeah, I’ve posted every weekday. Oh wait… and I also posted on Sunday once as part of #Blogtober14. Check it out here.
4. We’re signed up to run a 5k this weekend. Yeah… that came around fast. And we started running. My plan was to run every single day until the race. And then I remembered that I work full time, blog, coach high school basketball and David’s in grad school. So we had to drop that. I’m kinda bummed so now we’re gonna walk it. Or maybe David will run it {cause he’s cool like that} but I’m most definitely walking. Oh well.
5. I memorized this verse and it was so helpful. As a kid, we were part of Awana and memorized a lot of verses. I had forgotten how powerful it is to memorize scripture.
6. We went to Asheville with Megan. In case you missed that post, you can check out our day here.
Andddd onto this month.
{one | devotions}
I debated not even putting this one on here because I feel like we’ve gotten in such a good routine with this that I don’t think we’re at risk for changing that up right now. But then I decided to add it since the beginning of basketball season is starting and with life getting busy, I don’t want this to be the thing we drop. Plus, if something’s on a list, I’m more likely to get it done.
{two | memorize a verse}
This is the first time I’ve actually had the verse selected when the list was made. I love the reminder included in this verse that our tasks here on earth are really worship to our Father in heaven.
{three | continue christmas shopping}
I’ve actually done a fair amount of Christmas shopping already. Our deal around here is that David buys for the guys, I buy for the girls. I think he might be ahead of me. But one thing I really want to start figuring out is the friend Christmas presents. You know those gifts to people that you work with and you want give them something meaningful but doesn’t cost an arm and a leg? Yet, you don’t want to go the cheesy and cheap dollar store route? Yeah… gotta work on those.
{four | decorate for Christmas}
We’re planning to go to Atlanta like we do every year for Thanksgiving. We’ll probably come back on Friday or Saturday though and I’d really like to get decorations up then. As much work as it us to put them {not to mention the amount of money spent on Christmas decorations}, I like to try to enjoy them as long as we can.
{five | watch Corb and Kenz play}
I’m blessed to have little {and by that I mean younger} siblings… who play college sports. I’ve been to see Kenzie play at least 3 different weekends this fall and I’d like to see one more before she finishes the season. Corbin’s just starting up with basketball and I can’t wait to watch him play.
{six | enjoy time off}
November means Veteran’s day and Thanksgiving. And for teachers, that means time off. I’m hoping to actually enjoy it and not be too focused on checking things off the list.
{seven | win our first game}
I may or may not be too competitive. Our first basketball game is at the end of November so starting off the season with a win would be huge.
Have you ever tried setting monthly goals for yourself? This is my third month of it and I really enjoy the way it makes me purposeful in some of my activities. So if you’ve never done it, I challenge you to write down a few things you’d like to accomplish this month. And then comment below!
I’m a huge believe in the power of being thankful. So, every Thursday for the month of November, I’m planning to write about things I’m thankful for. You should join me! I think I’ll call it thankful Thursdays. What do ya think?
