My fashion inspiration comes from flipping through InStyle, scrolling through Pinterest or {lezzzbehonest} most often, checking out someone else’s outfit. Here’s what I’ve noticed recently: mixing patterns takes an outfit to a whole new level. It’s like it creates this new interest in the outfit. A new dynamic to the outfit. In my opinion, it looks best with layers. But then again, maybe I’m just a little obsessed because everything I post recently is about layers. Pulling off this look can take a little bit of skill. You don’t want to come out looking like you did on tacky day in high school.
My guidelines for mixing patterns are…
{1} limit it to 3 patterns at most… {but I usually keep it at 2}
{2} throw some neutrals in there… {because neutrals are better than a glass of wine on Friday night. Ok not really but they’re up there}
{3} at least one of your patterns should be geometrics… {stripes, polka-dots, etc}
{4} a scarf is a great way to layer patterns… {because at least one of the patterns is limited to a specific area of your apparel. And because scarves are better than finding $5 in the pocket of your jeans from last year. Yeah, not at all but scarves are great.}
{5} Rock it… {’cause you got this!}
The two ways to wear series is here. Check it out. It’s my fave.
