Is there anything better than a completed list?
I seriously do that all the time. As many lists as I make, it’s never crossed my mind to have certain goals for each month. There are several blogs that I follow who do this, so I’m following in the footsteps of Shay, Kelly and Kate. And yes, I know we’re already a week into September but, better late than never, right? Here goes…
1. Devotions daily. I haven’t opened my real Bible with my name printed on it in years. The YouVersion Holy Bible app on my iPad is more my style. My favorite thing about it is that I can choose a plan based on what I want to study and then it tells me what to read everyday. I hate flipping the Bible open and trying to figure out what to read. The other part of this goal is not just to have my quiet time every day but to get up early enough to do it with David before he leaves for work. So far this school year {all of three weeks} I’ve been doing this. Well, except for the week I was sick… But 2 out of 3 is a start, right? I really like getting up at the same time David does because it keeps us on the same schedule. I don’t like it when the alarm goes off… but I do like the big picture of getting things done around the house in the mornings and then getting to work early. Makes me feel so accomplished.
2. One new recipe. I would really like to try to make at least one new recipe every month. I’m guilty of getting stuck in a rut because I cook the same things on repeat. I pin a lot of recipes so making a few would probably be a good idea. {If they’re good, I’ll share!}
3. Fall decorations. Do you think if I set out some fall-themed decor, the weather will get the hint? Summer’s been great but bring on the cooler temps. I’m ready for boots, bonfires, the mountains and fall festivals. And we all know David’s {been} ready for some chili.
4. Finish book. This is a terrible confession for an English teacher to make. I very rarely read anymore. I grew up loving trips to the library so I could bury my nose in a book. In college, I read all the time even if it was mostly for class. I’m not sure exactly what it is about my job that makes me not want to come home and read but something does. I wish I read more. So, this summer I started a book and I’m determined to finish it before the end of September. It’s not that I don’t like the book; it’s actually really good. It’s just that I don’t make time for it.
5. Four blog posts weekly. My actual goal is 5 every week but… there is still such a learning curve associated with blogging right now. There’s been several times when I have a post 100% ready to go but when I post it, a bunch of the pictures show up as questions marks. It’s really frustrating when that happens. I think I found a solution but it takes forever because I have to screenshot all the pictures and then re-upload them. And I have no idea why this happens. So… if there’s a day when a post isn’t up, that’s probably why. {If you happen to know anything about this and how to fix it, you should let me know!}
6. Celebrate Thursdays! Friday I mentioned how we had gone to dinner on Thursday and talked about celebrating Thursdays. I have no idea what we’ll actually do to celebrate but I like the idea of living it up in honor of the approaching weekend!
7. Memorize a verse. I know one verse for a month isn’t exactly knocking it out of the park… but again, I’m starting somewhere. {A couple of years ago I had the idea of memorizing one per week and that turned out to be a little too ambitious so maybe this one will actually go somewhere.} I’m thinking that maybe putting this on paper {for the world to read} will give me the kick in the butt I need. I don’t have one picked out because I want it to be something He lays on my heart.
What’s on your mind to get done this month?
